Residual Austenite Quantification Service | JTL
We will quantify the residual austenite using the principle of X-ray diffraction.
The residual austenite quantification service utilizes the principle of X-ray diffraction to quantify the residual austenite in the surface layer of steel materials. During the quenching of steel, the transformation from ferrite to martensite does not complete with cooling to room temperature, resulting in a mixed structure of quenched microstructure and untransformed austenite. Since residual austenite can cause a decrease in hardness and dimensional changes over time, it is important to understand and control its quantity.
